FFB175 - Installation of Encyclopaedia Britannica 2014 Ultimate Edition stalls while attempting to install a TrueType font file (*.TTF)

To resolve this problem, install the fonts manually and then restart the installation as described below:

  1. Click here to download a file containing the TrueType fonts.
  2. Open the downloaded ZIP file.
  3. Start Windows Explorer (e.g. Press the “Windows” and “E” keys at the same time).
  4. Browse into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.
  5. Drag (or use Copy then paste) the files from the ZIP into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, confirm you want to install each font if asked.

Now you should try installing Encyclopaedia Britannica 201x again from the disk.

If the installer reports there is an existing installation and that you should uninstall the software first, open Control Panel then select "Programs, Uninstall a program" or "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall Encyclopaedia Britannica 201x.

If Encyclopaedia Britannica 201x isn't listed as an application that can be uninstalled, remove it manually as follows:

  1. Start Windows Explorer (e.g. Press the “Windows” and “E” keys at the same time).
  2. Browse into the C:\Program Files (or C:\Program Files (x86) if you're running a 64-bit version of Windows) folder.
  3. Right click on the Britannica 1x.0 folder and either Rename or Delete it.

Then attempt the installation once more.
