Q: Incorrect Display Mode error, What is this?
A: If you are having problems with the game crashing or if the performance is poor please go the following page:- Checking your Graphics Card compatibility - Follow the instructions on this page.
Q: Objects are not always visible unless zoomed in
A: The problem is related to the ‘Viewing Distance’ setting which determines how far you have to zoom in before objects will be visible.
To ensure you have this at the maximum setting, click on the System Menu icon (second from top-right icon), then click ‘Options’.
Ensure that the ‘View dist’ slider is all the way to the right by dragging the slider with the mouse.
Apart from this, when you run the game, ensure you choose 32-bit colour depth and 1024 x 768 screen resolution in the first box that appears before the game is loaded.
Please note that very small objects still may not be visible if you are zoomed out a long way, but this should improve things.
Q: .ROI files and .ROA files, information.
A: Create your own Model Railway deluxe has two elements, the normal Railway designer and the Wild West designer.
The regular designer is accessed by selecting START then Create Your Own Model Railway, then by clicking on Create Your Own Model Railway.
This element of the deluxe edition loads and saves .ROA files.
The Wild West designer is accessed by selecting START then Create Your Own Model Railway, then by clicking on Create Your Own Model Railway - Wild West.
This element of the deluxe edition loads and saves .ROI files.
Q: How can I delete or backup my saved layout files?
A: There is no automated way to backup or delete saved layout files. The only workaround is to manually backup or delete them from your PC using Windows Explorer. The program saves files in a specific folder on your PC and they have a .roa extension...
On Windows Vista / Windows 7 or Windows 8 :-
C:\Users\*your user name*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Focus Multimedia Limited\Create Your Own Model Railway
In the above, replace *your user name* with the name you use to log into Windows.
The folder is normally hidden by default by Windows so you may need to tell Windows to make hidden files and folders visible while you do this. You can do that using the 'Folder Options' tool in Control Panel.
The saved layout files in this folder have a .roa filename extension. You can delete any .roa files you no longer need, back them up, or transfer them to another computer by copying them over to the same folder on that computer.
